About the Collection

This collection consists of three time books for Rose Hill Plantation in Beaufort County, South Carolina. The books were kept in the year 1878 by or for a member of the Heyward family.

The time books document the names of enslaved men and women working on the plantation and their jobs working with rice, carpentry and plantation construction. Figures related to pay for working these tasks are also noted in the time books.
