A 73-page pamphlet published to record Gatewood v. Toomer, a case heard and trialed in the South Carolina Court of Equity. The case involved estate originally willed by Henry Laurens to his granddaughter, Frances Eleanor Laurens Cunnington, and son, Henry Laurens Jr. William C. Gatewood became entitled to a portion of the estate when it was given to him as a surety by Edward R. Laurens. The pamphlet copies the answers of the defendants to Gatewood's bill of complaint, as well as orders and decisions made in the case. The pamphlet also copies the wills of Eliza Rutledge Laurens, Henry Laurens, Henry Laurens Jr., and William C. Gatewood.
