- The John Ball Plantation Account Book, 1812-1834, is an indexed account book kept by overseers at various plantations owned by the Ball family. Overseers named are John Cox, Arthur McFarland, Samuel Lynes, Alexander McKnight, Britton Bunch, John Dickson, Thomas Fincklea, James Coward, and John Page. Of particular interest are two different accounts, one with William Deas, referred to as a "Mulatto" and the other "Free Nancy," a free black woman at Limerick Plantation who was buying and trading rice and sugar.

- The Robert F.W. Allston Receipt Book, 1823-1863, records receipts received by Robert Allston for payments made to numerous overseers, carpenters and family members. Examples of receipts found in the book include wages for overseers at Nightingale Hall Plantation, Exchange Plantation and Matanza Plantation, later known as Chicora Wood, as well as purchases of enslaved persons and travel expenses.

- The Charles Manigault Letter Book, 1846-1848 is a bound volume kept by Charles I. Manigault while living in Paris, France with his family between 1846-1848. Letters were sent to James Coward, overseer at Silk Hope Plantation, Thomas Middleton, R. Habersham & Son, Alfred Huger, Anthony Barclay, Y. Haynes, overseer at Gowrie Plantation, Louis Manigault and Charles Manigault Jr. Topics of conversation found in these letters include business operations at the plantations, enslaved people's resistance via running away, treatment and punishment of slaves, a group of slaves taking an overseer to court, living abroad in Paris, Charles Manigault's views on racial equality in Paris, the Manigault children's schooling in Paris and at Yale College, traveling Europe, meeting Muhammad Ali, the leader of Egypt and discussing the Mexican American War and Egyptian politics, Charles Manigault's Huguenot ancestry and history, and being in Paris during the French Revolution of 1848.

- The Weehaw Plantation Journal, 1855-1861, is a journal of Weehaw Plantation, near Georgetown regarding birth, death, duties, vaccinations, tasks and allowances of enslaved people, plantation expenses, names of overseers, listings of rice crops, clothing for enslaved people, cattle, yearly accounts, tools, usage of fields, vegetable garden production, medicines, house groceries and contracts. The journal is also used as a partial diary regarding the plantation with comments on Abraham Lincoln's inaugural address, secession of South Carolina, the days leading up to the attack on Fort Sumpter, the day of the attack on Fort Sumpter, lists of enslaved persons winter and summer clothes and mentions of recruiting for Hampton's Legion for the Confederate States of America. Loose papers found within the journal contain names of enslaved persons and notes on the plantation.
6. Isaac Hayne Journal

- Description:
- The Isaac Hayne Journal contains information on births, ages, deaths, marriages, memorandums, information on breeding horses, ages of enslaved men, women and children and bills of scantling. The entries on ages contain an alphabetical listing of individuals and their birth dates and entries on slaves include births, deaths and occasional notes concerning the sale of slaves as well as runaway slaves. The journal also includes notes on plantation management such as the issuing of blankets and the work of overseers, plowmen, housekeepers, and others.
7. Richmond Plantation Journal

- The Richmond Plantation Journal, 1859-1860 was kept by Anthony Weston, Benjamin Huger's overseer. Entries concern activities on the rice plantation primarily related to rice cultivation (plowing, manuring, cleaning ditches, threshing and winnowing.) Also mentioned are corn, peas, potatoes, livestocks, the weather and lists of goods and prices. The journal also includes entries relating to slave allowances as well as violence towards slaves including flogging and imprisonment. The names of the slaves are listed as: Affee, Anthony, Benego, Big Tony, Billy/Runaway Billy, Bina, Carpenter Sam, Cloe, Cornelia, Cyrus, Delia, Dina, Ellick, Ellie, Grace, Handy, Hector, Jack, Jak, John, Jose, Juda, Juiet, Margaret, Martha, Morris, Moses, Peggy, Peter, Pino, Racheal, Rock, Sally, Sarah, Simon, Thomas, Toby and William.
