Makes notation that the enslaved person Toney came back and has not been punished. According to Toney, Stephen tricked Toney to travel with him, only to be told later on that Stephen, who was supposedly armed, was taking his family to the "Yankees" and that Toney needs to come with them. Toney eventually was able to leave and return to the plantation.

The overseer believes Toney and his family should be sent to North Carolina as he does not wish to have him sent to the military.
A letter to Harold Cranston on Capers Island from James Vidal discussing Vidal's questioning of the enslaved persons. Concerning the enslaved persons, Vidal writes, "if you have too much familiarity, it will spoil them." He continues by discussing a boat and the unknown location of his rafts.
A message signed by J. McCrady confirming that enslaved persons owned by Robert F.W. Allston arrived for work at South Island Plantation. The names of the enslaved are Salone, Sammy, Jacob, Mary, Sancho, June and Abraham.
The Account Journal, 1774-1777, was written by an unknown author recording financial accounts, tasks performed by enslaved persons, the planting of indigo, cotton, rice and corn and numerous memorandums between Paul Villepontoux and Peter Marion. A few journal entries reference enslaved persons who ran away from the plantations as well as verses pertaining to freedom and General George Washington. Journal contains entries from a second use, which are written upside down and interspersed with the first use.
A copy of the last will and testament of Benjamin Garden in which he divides his estate among his remaining relatives. States that the enslaved men Radcliff and Tom be "shipped off and sold to the Spaniards or at the Bay of Honduras..." Garden also frees the enslaved man named Taunton from "all further servitude" and the house "wench" Alley stating it is "my wish to liberate her from all future slavery." Makes notation that the enslaved persons Abram, Sarah, "Statyrah" and Moses are to be sold, and names enslaved persons to be moved to other family plantations.

The A.B Flagg Medical Day Book, 1792-1853, is the medical account of Doctor Arthur Belin Flagg. This book includes descriptions of medical treatments and a list of fees for medical services for plantation families and slaves. The details includes the names of the plantation owners and the names of the enslaved peoples. Also recorded in this account book is Dr. Flagg's visit to the military location Camp Magill in Waccamaw, South Carolina to treat wounded soldiers during the Civil War in 1861.The last section of the book was written starting from the back of the book resulting in upside down pages. Receipts include the payments made to buyers of enslaved people, money sent for subscriptions to newspapers and to the Charleston Library Society and the American Revolution Society. Other receipts include dividends to the State Bank and employee wages.
This document is the last will and testmament of Thomas Hunter Forrest. Includes the notation that he bequeathed his entire estate, including slaves (referenced as negro slaves) and household furniture, to "a certain mulatto boy named Frank or Frederick and lately emancipated by me." In the event that the boy dies before he reaches the age of twenty-one, the estate is bequeathed to the "Orphan House in the City of Charleston." Also makes the notation that his executors see that Frank or Frederick recieved a "good English education," learns a trade and that the "wench Sarah" is not to be sold in order to take care of Frank or Frederick.

The John Ball Plantation Account Book, 1812-1834, is an indexed account book kept by overseers at various plantations owned by the Ball family. Overseers named are John Cox, Arthur McFarland, Samuel Lynes, Alexander McKnight, Britton Bunch, John Dickson, Thomas Fincklea, James Coward, and John Page. Of particular interest are two different accounts, one with William Deas, referred to as a "Mulatto" and the other "Free Nancy," a free black woman at Limerick Plantation who was buying and trading rice and sugar.
