Eugène Sue's Le Juif errant was published serially in the the newspaper Le Constitutionnel from June 25, 1844, to August 26, 1845. Caricature by Honoré Daumier. In French, the text reads : "Allons! en route, mon vieux, en route........ si moi je ne parviens pas à vous faire marcher c'est que décidément votre infirmité sera par trop constitutionnelle!..." In English, the text reads : "Come on, old man, let's go, come on! If I can't even make you walk, then your infirmity is really a constitutional problem..."
