Mentions moving from Rice Hope Plantation to Jericho Plantation in St. James Santee Parish and the management of slaves during the change of management of Jericho. Gibbs decides to sell his own slaves in Charleston along with the original slaves at Jericho because his are unfamiliar with rice cultivation. He will therefore purchase some of the slaves from the original estate at Jericho who do have the knowledge of cultivating rice.
