The Day Book for Henry Ravenel Junior, Wood Ville, 1806-1822, is a book divided into two sections. The first section lists the names of slaves and their decedents, lists of purchased slaves with name, name of previous owner, date and price, and slaves who received shoes. The second half, which appears upside down, records family events, visits to the Pineville theatre, traveling, engagements, marriages, deaths, and attendance at the Jockey Club. Also included are entries about a hunting party to capture or kill fugitive slaves, the promise of emancipation for two female "mulatto" child slaves, and a trial over the body of a slave woman who was punished to death. This book contains a second use written upside-down and back to front.
The Daniel Huger Receipt Book, 1812-1819, is a bound book documenting the receipts by various employees of Daniel Huger and Charleston merchants he frequented. The Medical Account Book of Dr. George Paddon Bond Hasell contains medical entries on visits and treatments for Georgetown County plantation families and their slaves between 1812-1816. The book is written in both English and Latin and references enslaved people by their first name, the name of their slave owner or by using the letter "N" before their name.
The Gaillard Plantation Journal, 1817 is an anonymous journal concerning shoes made for enslaved people on a plantation owned by the Gaillard family. Other entries discuss cattle, milk, coffee, and pecks of corn.

The Theodore Louis Gourdin Estate Record consists of accounts and inventories for Murray's Ferry, Red Clay, and other Williamsburg County Plantations written by estate executor Theodore Gourdin. The volume includes appraisements, inventories, and financial accounts for these plantations as well as records the names of the enslaved people on the properties.
The Henry Ravenel Medical Book, 1816-1834 records medical visits and prescriptions for families and their slaves by physician Henry Ravenel. Families seeking medical treatment include Porcher, Dubois, Gaillard, Foxworth, Marion, Moore, Ravenel, Broughton and many others. Some of the diseases and injuries being treated are rheumatic diseases, fevers, fractures, kidney disease, a miscarriage, and an amputation on a child slave.

The first section records the names and ages of the enslaved children born on the plantation and the names of their parents. The second half of the book, which appears upside down as the book was flipped for a new section, records the weather conditions, crop farming and the tasks completed by the slaves. The loose papers record the names of the enslaved people, slaves divided and allotted to Henry, Thomas, Rene and William Ravenel, the number of male and female slaves and a note to sell a family of slaves with their names and ages.

The Horlbeck Daybook, 1835-1837, was kept by members of the Horlbeck building and architectural business. Included in the daybook are lists of work done for clients such as remodeling, repair, or construction. Buildings worked on include the jail, St. Stephen's Chapel, the Fire Master's Department, and the Poor House. The descriptions include types of materials used and the number of Black and White employees working. Black employees consist of enslaved and freed persons.
The Horlbeck Cash and Estimate Book, 1839-1849, was kept by members of the Horlbeck building and architectural business. The first half of the book is a cash book listing expenses and income. Expenses were for laborers described as white and "negroe", lime, bricks and "negro cloth." The second half of the book lists projected costs, lists of supplies, descriptions and occasional floor plans and drawings for structures to be built, repaired, and remodeled. Buildings include a dwelling house for a "Colored Man" and an Engine House.
The Horlbeck Ledger, 1839-1847, is a bound volume by members of the Horlbeck building and architectural business. The book records work done for clients White and Black employees and specifies the type of repair, remodeling or construction jobs and supplies. Black employees are comprised of enslaved persons and freed men and women.
The Paul De St. Julien Ravenel Estate Book, 1829-1841 is an estate account book kept by Henry Ravenel for the estate of Paul D. Ravenel with pages on money received, spent or payments paid, including payments for the hiring of enslaved people. The last few pages of the book are lists of slaves, referenced by first name, and the number of sheets given out.
The General Work and Allowance List was kept in the year 1840 by the Glover family and records the enslaved people at Camp, West Bank, Forlorn Hope and Snug-it-is Plantations. Information includes the names of the male, female and child slaves, tasks completed by the slaves and their food allowances.
The Lydia Waring Estate Book contains a copy of Lydia Jane Ball Waring's will, copies of inventories and appraisals of goods and chattel at Comingtee Plantation and at 21 East Bay Street, Charleston, South Carolina. Accounts also include those of John B. Waring, Ann Simons Waring, and Francis Malbone Waring with their guardians Keating Simons Ball and Ann Deas. The accounts contain appraisements of slaves, their names and the amount obtained from the wages of slaves and expenses incurred by slaves.
The Charles Manigault Letter Book, 1846-1848 is a bound volume kept by Charles I. Manigault while living in Paris, France with his family between 1846-1848. Letters were sent to James Coward, overseer at Silk Hope Plantation, Thomas Middleton, R. Habersham & Son, Alfred Huger, Anthony Barclay, Y. Haynes, overseer at Gowrie Plantation, Louis Manigault and Charles Manigault Jr. Topics of conversation found in these letters include business operations at the plantations, enslaved people's resistance via running away, treatment and punishment of slaves, a group of slaves taking an overseer to court, living abroad in Paris, Charles Manigault's views on racial equality in Paris, the Manigault children's schooling in Paris and at Yale College, traveling Europe, meeting Muhammad Ali, the leader of Egypt and discussing the Mexican American War and Egyptian politics, Charles Manigault's Huguenot ancestry and history, and being in Paris during the French Revolution of 1848.
The Robert F.W.Allston Memorandum Book covers the years 1848 and 1849, documenting payments made by Robert Allston, a record of cattle on Waverly, Nightingale Hall and Matanza (later known as Chicora Wood) Plantations and mentions of enslaved people who are referenced by first name. The book also includes loose papers and newspaper clippings on politics, the electoral college and a written statement surrounding the different views over slavery between the northern and southern states.

The Record of Claremont Church, 1808-1865, is a bound volume that records lists of communicants, baptisms for infants and adults, burials for confederate soldiers and church members, confirmations and marriages performed. Each section includes entries for both enslaved people, freed persons, and white church members. The entries for enslaved people often include the names of their parents or mother, age, name of their slave owner or if they are free.
The Dr. Andrew Hasell Day Book, 1840-1850, records the names of patients, which plantation they live on, illnesses or injuries, and monetary charges for medical treatments by Dr. Andrew Hasell. Patients consist of many Georgetown County families and their enslaved persons. Medical treatments include amputations, tooth extractions, diagnoses of rheumatic diseases and treatment of bone fractures.
The Peter Gaillard Jr. Plantation Journal (1825-1851) is a bound volume written by Peter Gaillard Jr. and other members of the Gaillard family for Rocks Plantation. The volume consists of names of the enslaved people on the property as well as registers of births and deaths, statements and financial accounts related to the farming and selling of cotton as well as tax returns for the estate of S. Gaillard.
The Newton Plantation Slave Lists and Blanket Distribution Book, 1854-1861, is a bound book recording the names of enslaved persons at Newton Plantation (thought to be in Georgetown County, South Carolina). The lists include information concerning births, deaths, marriages, and purchasers of slaves. The blanket list includes names of the slaves, and the years blankets were distributed.
The Kiawah Plantation Book, 1854-1861, is kept by a member of the Vanderhorst Family for their estate Kiawah Plantation on Kiawah Island, South Carolina. The Stoney Account Book, 1837-1838, and Plantation Daybook, 1852 is a bound volume kept by the Stoney family, possibly John Stafford Stoney, in which the first half of the book documents payments for shipping, freights, wharfage and commissions from GM Thompson, Wade Hampton II, William Cunningham, Robert E. Russell, Mary Hampton, Horace Osborne & Co., John Preston, and Nesbit Manufacturing Co. The second half of the book was written by a plantation overseer at Medway Plantation in which he documents the tasks performed by enslaved people and the slaves who missed work due to sickness. The Thomas Wright Bacot Jr. Estate Book is written by Robert Dewar Bacot between 1851-1854, following the death of Thomas W. Bacot in 1851. Acting as administrator for the estate, the book includes notices for demands against the estate, appraisals for items and belongings, including an enslaved woman named Nancy, and a written statement regarding the distribution of Thomas Bacot's shares to other members of the Bacot family.
The 1854 Samuel Wilson journal is a Miller's Planters & Merchants Almanac repurposed as a journal. The journal contains handwritten meterological observations, weekly reports of yellow fever deaths, mortality tables, deaths of slaves including murder, notes on family matters, fires, hurriances and other events that took place in Charleston in the year 1854.
The Robert F.W. Allston Account Book covers the years 1857-1859 discussing Chicora Wood and Nightingale Hall Plantations. The book includes information on acres of land, stock and cattle, payments and accounts, a purchase of forty-one enslaved persons and the number of enslaved persons at each plantation in which they are listed as dependencies. Book includes a second use with passages written from the back of the book towards the front.
The Dr. Francis P. Porcher Prescription Book 1856-1859 records the patients, including enslaved people, of Dr. Francis Peyre Porcher. The descriptions state the names of the patients, the slave and their owner, the types of medicines that are being prescribed and specific ingredients for those medicines.
The Robert F.W. Allston Plantation Memo Book, 1859, is a Miller's Planters and Merchants Almanac repurposed as a personal account book for Robert Allston. The book records the names of the enslaved men, women and children on Chicora Wood and Nightingale Hall Plantations as well as their births, deaths and whether they were hired out by other South Carolina plantation owners. Other entries include information on crops, payments and the smoking of bacon.
The Richmond Plantation Journal, 1859-1860 was kept by Anthony Weston, Benjamin Huger's overseer. Entries concern activities on the rice plantation primarily related to rice cultivation (plowing, manuring, cleaning ditches, threshing and winnowing.) Also mentioned are corn, peas, potatoes, livestocks, the weather and lists of goods and prices. The journal also includes entries relating to slave allowances as well as violence towards slaves including flogging and imprisonment. The Robert F.W. Allston with Robert Adger and Co. Account Book, 1860, is a journal recording household and grocery expenses for Robert Allston. Among the lists includes items for enslaved persons such as cloth and toothbrushes. Many entries also contain records of payments to specific individuals.
The Robert F.W Allston Account Book, 1860-1861, documents payments, a recipe to help cure rabies, stocks for Nightingale Hall and Chicora Wood Plantations and the names, births and deaths of enslaved people. The book also includes diary entries for when Robert Allston visited Manassas, Virginia at the Battle of Bull Run during the Civil War, recording conversations he had about the battle, the atmosphere of the army camps and the death of General Barnard E. Bee.

The Robert F. W. Allston Journal is an 1864 journal which contains handwritten copies of two letters written by Governor Robert Francis Withers Allston. The letters are addressed to "Mr. Morse" discussing the selling of products and to "Mr. Yates" discussing money. The rest of the journal is filled with blank pages.
Volume Two in the Cote Bas and Mepkin Plantations Collection is a Miller's Interleaved Almanac for 1886 repurposed as a journal by Peter Gourdin. Entries pertain to rice planting, livestock and social activities. Other information includes newspaper clippings on various topics such as General Order No. 1, January 1, 1866, issued by Federal authorities to govern the employment of freedmen as plantation laborers as well as other rights and liberties given to freedmen.
The Allston-Pringle Plantation Account Book is a bound volume recorded by Adele Petigru Allston and later her daughter, Elizabeth Waities Allston Pringle, for White House, Chicora Wood, and Greenfield Plantation. The book records the financial accounts for the male and female laborers on the properties and documents their expenses and wages in 1867. The end pages of the book, appearing upside down, were used by Elizabeth W.A. Pringle to record daily entries of the tasks performed by laborers in 1913-1914. Also found inside the volume is a loose sheet of paper listing Adele P. Allston's expenses in 1873.

Entries include planting, farming and irrigation information from Cote Bas and Mepkin Plantations. Other entries concern rice, cotton, payments made for goods and services, social activities and clippings on various topics such as the Union Reform Party and voting for freedmen.

Ravenel, executor, accounts of St. Julien Ravenel, Alfred Ford Ravenel, born 1822, Alfred Ford Ravenel, born 1857, R.N. Gourdin, M.A. Pringle, Mrs. Frances E.H. Frost, Miss E.P. Huger, and Francis G. Ravenel. Other entries refer to stocks and bonds, a store on East Bay Street in Charleston, South Carolina, a house and lot on the Battery in Charleston as well as slaves mentioned by name. The Stoney Family Plantation Day Book, 1872 is a bound book kept by a member of the Stoney family recording payrolls, cash accounts and general accounts for laborers, formerly slaves and now freed persons, at Medway Plantation. The second half of the book is comprised of journal entries recording weather, work completed by laborers, conditions of the plantation crops, specifically rice, and visits from family and friends.
The Kiawah Stock Account Book, 1877-1882, is kept by a member of the Vanderhorst Family for their estate Kiawah Plantation on Kiawah Island, South Carolina. Entries include information on the numbers of livestock sold, list of expenses and marketing and account statements for the overseer Quash Stevens.
The Diary of Julius M. Bacot, 1886 contains daily diary entries discussing Julius Bacot's work as a lawyer, the weather, illness, and his social engagements with members of other Charleston families such as the Manigaults, Lowndes, Rhetts and Ravenels. Other entries talk about weddings, deaths, hunting trips, and property claims following the Civil War. The diary includes entries on the Protestant Episcopal Church Convention in which discussion formed around the admittance of African American ministers which was ultimately denied. Finally, Julius Bacot writes about the 1886 Charleston Earthquake in which he records the event as it happens and the damages, anxieties, aftershocks, and relief efforts following it.
