This document is the last will and testament of William Mills where he discusses the distribution of his properties and items. Makes notation on the first page that he leaves his son Thomas "my two negroes Jacob and Binah." On the second page, he makes the notation that he leaves his son Henry "my negro wench Maryanne," his son Robert, "my two negro men Dunder and Jeffrey" and his daughter Sarah, "my two negro girls named Jinney and her sister Cate." On the third page, makes the notation that he leaves to William Mills, "a negro boy about the age of (14)."
The Daniel Huger Receipt Book 1803-1812 is a bound book documenting the receipts by various employees of Daniel Huger and Charleston merchants he frequented. Receipts include the payments made to buyers of enslaved people, money sent for subscriptions to newspapers and to the Charleston Library Society and the American Revolution Society. Other receipts include dividends to the State Bank and employee wages.

The Day Book for Henry Ravenel Junior, Wood Ville, 1806-1822, is a book divided into two sections. The first section lists the names of slaves and their decedents, lists of purchased slaves with name, name of previous owner, date and price, and slaves who received shoes. The second half, which appears upside down, records family events, visits to the Pineville theatre, traveling, engagements, marriages, deaths, and attendance at the Jockey Club. Also included are entries about a hunting party to capture or kill fugitive slaves, the promise of emancipation for two female "mulatto" child slaves, and a trial over the body of a slave woman who was punished to death. This book contains a second use written upside-down and back to front.
This document is the last will and testmament of Thomas Hunter Forrest. Includes the notation that he bequeathed his entire estate, including slaves (referenced as negro slaves) and household furniture, to "a certain mulatto boy named Frank or Frederick and lately emancipated by me." In the event that the boy dies before he reaches the age of twenty-one, the estate is bequeathed to the "Orphan House in the City of Charleston." Also makes the notation that his executors see that Frank or Frederick recieved a "good English education," learns a trade and that the "wench Sarah" is not to be sold in order to take care of Frank or Frederick.

The Record of Claremont Church, 1808-1865, is a bound volume that records lists of communicants, baptisms for infants and adults, burials for confederate soldiers and church members, confirmations and marriages performed. Each section includes entries for both enslaved people, freed persons, and white church members. The entries for enslaved people often include the names of their parents or mother, age, name of their slave owner or if they are free.
The Henry Ravenel Crop Book, 1809-1832 is a book divided into two separate sections that also includes loose notes found within the book. The first section records the names and ages of the enslaved children born on the plantation and the names of their parents. The second half of the book, which appears upside down as the book was flipped for a new section, records the weather conditions, crop farming and the tasks completed by the slaves. The loose papers record the names of the enslaved people, slaves divided and allotted to Henry, Thomas, Rene and William Ravenel, the number of male and female slaves and a note to sell a family of slaves with their names and ages.

The Medical Account Book of Dr. George Paddon Bond Hasell contains medical entries on visits and treatments for Georgetown County plantation families and their slaves between 1812-1816. The book is written in both English and Latin and references enslaved people by their first name, the name of their slave owner or by using the letter "N" before their name.

The Henry Ravenel Medical Book, 1816-1834 records medical visits and prescriptions for families and their slaves by physician Henry Ravenel. Families seeking medical treatment include Porcher, Dubois, Gaillard, Foxworth, Marion, Moore, Ravenel, Broughton and many others. Some of the diseases and injuries being treated are rheumatic diseases, fevers, fractures, kidney disease, a miscarriage, and an amputation on a child slave.
The Gaillard Plantation Journal, 1817 is an anonymous journal concerning shoes made for enslaved people on a plantation owned by the Gaillard family. Other entries discuss cattle, milk, coffee, and pecks of corn.

Ravenel with pages on money received, spent or payments paid, including payments for the hiring of enslaved people. The last few pages of the book are lists of slaves, referenced by first name, and the number of sheets given out.
This document conveys an ownership in trust of "certain coloured children" of William Remley to several individuals emancipating them. Remley expresses his desire that the children "enjoy all the privileges of free persons," and the deed directs that they should be taken to a "non-slave holding state" should anyone attemp to enslave them. The slaves are listed as Elizabeth, Catharine, Ann, Eliza, Cinda and Harriott.
This document is a bill of sale at Charleston, South Carolina for a slave named Rhoda, referenced as "negro girl slave," sold to C.S. Simonton from Louisa Lane for $600.

The Horlbeck Daybook, 1835-1837, was kept by members of the Horlbeck building and architectural business. Included in the daybook are lists of work done for clients such as remodeling, repair, or construction. Buildings worked on include the jail, St. Stephen's Chapel, the Fire Master's Department, and the Poor House. The descriptions include types of materials used and the number of Black and White employees working. Black employees consist of enslaved and freed persons.
The Stoney Account Book, 1837-1838, and Plantation Daybook, 1852 is a bound volume kept by the Stoney family, possibly John Stafford Stoney, in which the first half of the book documents payments for shipping, freights, wharfage and commissions from GM Thompson, Wade Hampton II, William Cunningham, Robert E. Russell, Mary Hampton, Horace Osborne & Co., John Preston, and Nesbit Manufacturing Co. The second half of the book was written by a plantation overseer at Medway Plantation in which he documents the tasks performed by enslaved people and the slaves who missed work due to sickness. The names of the slaves are listed as: Abraham, Andrew, Beck, Bella, Bess, Binah, Bob, Brooke, Celia, Cesar, Charlot, Cily, Dido, Dinah/Old Dinah, Dolly, Edward, Elsey, Grace, Hector, Hercules, Jack, Jackey, Kate, Maully, Moses, Old Elley, Old Felix, Old Jerry, Peter, Philaskey, Philis, Pussy, Quash, Robert, Robin, Rosannah, Sam, and Samey.
The Horlbeck Cash and Estimate Book, 1839-1849, was kept by members of the Horlbeck building and architectural business. The first half of the book is a cash book listing expenses and income. Expenses were for laborers described as white and "negroe", lime, bricks and "negro cloth." The second half of the book lists projected costs, lists of supplies, descriptions and occasional floor plans and drawings for structures to be built, repaired, and remodeled. Buildings include a dwelling house for a "Colored Man" and an Engine House.
The Horlbeck Ledger, 1839-1847, is a bound volume by members of the Horlbeck building and architectural business. The book records work done for clients White and Black employees and specifies the type of repair, remodeling or construction jobs and supplies. Black employees are comprised of enslaved persons and freed men and women.
The Dr. Andrew Hasell Day Book, 1840-1850, records the names of patients, which plantation they live on, illnesses or injuries, and monetary charges for medical treatments by Dr. Andrew Hasell. Patients consist of many Georgetown County families and their enslaved persons. Medical treatments include amputations, tooth extractions, diagnoses of rheumatic diseases and treatment of bone fractures.
The General Work and Allowance List was kept in the year 1840 by the Glover family and records the enslaved people at Camp, West Bank, Forlorn Hope and Snug-it-is Plantations. Information includes the names of the male, female and child slaves, tasks completed by the slaves and their food allowances.
A statement from the appraisers of Doctor John Glover certifying that bushels of corn, peas, oats, rye seeds and rice were appraised from the West Bank Plantation.
