She also informs her mother that they have met a distant cousin, a Dr. Borland, a sugar planter who lives in Louisiana.

Peterkin writes that he chose to publish a recent sermon of Barnwell's in the "Maryland Colonization Journal" since "it is read by many of our slave owners." September 6, 1839.
