Description:: The John McCrady Plat Collection is a collection of more than 10,000 plats collected by local surveyor John McCrady (1884-1955). Over his lifetime, McCrady collected thousands of original eighteenth and nineteenth century plats, mostly of Charleston, Berkeley, Dorchester, and Colleton counties of the South Carolina Lowcountry. When he could not acquire originals from the landowners, he placed tracings into his collection.
