About the Collection
The Middleton Papers, 1775-1815 collection contains documents created by members of the Middleton family, including letters to and from Arthur Middleton (1742-1787) , a prominent planter and signer of the Declaration of Independence. In addition, this collection contains various resolutions on Revolution-era politics, banknotes signed by notable South Carolinians, letters on plantation management, and a receipt for indentured servants.
