About the Collection
The Letter to Harriott Horry, ca. 1780, collection contains a letter from Eliza Lucas Pinckney (1723-1793) to her daughter Harriot Horry (1749-1830) discussing family matters and an enslaved woman. Eliza Lucas Pinckney was the daughter of Col. George Lucas of Antigua, was the second wife of South Carolina chief justice Charles Pinckney (ca. 1699-1758). Her daughter Hariott married Daniel Horry.
