About the Collection
The Cora Godfrey Justice Family Papers, 1816-1987, contains two loose papers kept by or for members of the family.
Cora Page Godfrey Justice was a freelance writer and historiographer of St. David’s Church in Cheraw, S.C. She was the daughter of Cora Page and banker William Godfrey (b. 1870) and wife to John William Justice.
Loose papers in the collection consist of a conveyance (1847) of an enslaved boy named Leopold sold to William Godfrey in Union County (N.C.). The second document is a bill of sale for the enslaved woman Betsey sold from James Holmes to Frances Bryan.
