  • ["April 21st 1857 My dear Sir Surveyor Campbell made two plats of the Canal dug by the Estate people and of the lands to be exchanged. One of these I sent you and retained the other. When Mr. Petigru afterwards arranged the papers for us, a plat was called for to be affixed to yours and you having left your copy at Combahee, I gave up mine for that purpose I now write you this to request you to return me the copy which I first sent you. This plat will be required in the conveyance of a small piece of land by my Uncle Charles necessary to our canal arrangements. Yours Very Respectfully Jas. B. Heyward Daniel Blake Esq."]
