Bragg was the founder and first librarian of the Charleston Free Library in 1931 and was the director of the Berkshire Museum in Pittsfield, Massachusetts from 1932-1939. Includes Citadel and Virginia Military Institute commencement invitations, postcards and photographs of Miss Bragg with Chinese cadets.

Ron Plunkett discusses his experience as an Irish-American in the South. His Irish family background is largely derived from County Meath, County Louth, and County Dublin, and the first ancestor of his to come to the States was Captain Peter Plunkett, who arrived in Virginia around 1690. Ron was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. His background is Welsh, German, and French Huguenot, as well as Irish. Ron was raised in the Episcopal Church. Of anti-Irish or anti-Catholic sentiment, he states that he feels such discrimination or prejudice wasn’t a part of his experience in Atlanta, and that religious or ethnic background didn’t seem to be as big of a deal as it might have been in other places. He also discusses his time in the service during the Korean War. He first visited Ireland in the seventies on business and returned several times through his job with Sealand/Maersk Line, speaking of his experience as a visitor in the best of terms. He is a member of the Hibernian Society of Charleston and the St. David’s Society, a Welsh organization. To him, being of Irish descent in America is about celebrating one’s heritage and knowing one’s history, to share pride in the contributions of one’s ancestors.

The Robert F.W Allston Account Book, 1860-1861, documents payments, a recipe to help cure rabies, stocks for Nightingale Hall and Chicora Wood Plantations and the names, births and deaths of enslaved people. The book also includes diary entries for when Robert Allston visited Manassas, Virginia at the Battle of Bull Run during the Civil War, recording conversations he had about the battle, the atmosphere of the army camps and the death of General Barnard E. Bee.
This album is comprised of photographs of Gertrude Sanford Legendre and other members of her family, including her grandfather, Stephen Sanford, her mother, Ethel Sanford, her siblings, Stephen and Sarah Jane Sanford, her husband, Sidney Legendre, and her brother-in-law, Morris Legendre.
The Travel Expenses Book, 1806-1810, is a bound volume kept by John Ball listing expenses for his travels to New York, Boston, Cambridge, Montreal, Quebec, Philadelphia, Bowling Green, Washington, Alexandria, Trenton, and other locations. Expenses are kept for food, clothing, lodging, and hiring servants. Notes indicate Mr. Ball's rating for service and fare at hotels and taverns in various locations.
A handwritten, four-page letter from Joseph Alston to his father, Charles Alston, in which he updates him on his status as a Confederate soldier during the Civil War. He informs his father of the Confederate troops moving north to Virginia and discusses topics such as Benjamin Huger's actions and the lack of intervention from England or France in the war.
