Makes notation that a fifty dollar reward was offered for the capture of the enslaved man Morris.

A letter from Charles Haskell to Langdon Cheves Jr. discussing the enslaved men Sharper and Stephney. Haskell states that the men "absented" themselves from the plantation, Sharper was jailed and there is no belief they ran away. Haskell ends the letter hoping "the enemy has relinquished his attacks on Savannah."
Iris was born in the city of Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas, Mexico. Her grandmother served as her main caregiver because her mother worked full time and studied on the weekends. She suffered the absence of her mother, but from her she learned to strive for her goals. As a teenager, she was sent to Mexico City to study cosmetology. When she returned to her town, she fell in love and had her first child at seventeen. She had her own hairdressing and beauty business, but she aspired to a better quality of life for herself and her child. Excited by the stories of prosperity coming from the north, she decided to emigrate. She left her nine-year-old son with her sister and embarked on the difficult journey to cross the border. The crossing was plagued by situations of danger and abuse. Life in the United States was more difficult than she had anticipated, and her plans to reunite with her child took six years to complete. The reunion was fraught with difficulties and the family needed a lot of time and determination to heal their wounds. Iris’s son was at risk of deportation but, fortunately, he was able to apply for DACA and receive approval. Iris worked as a promoter in the PASOs program and currently continues to volunteer in the community and her parish.Nació en la ciudad de Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas, México en el año de 1972. A 27-page typed transcript of a meeting of the Progressive Democratic Party of South Carolina with a sub-committee of the Democratic National Committee on July 17, 1944, at the Stevens Hotel in Chicago, Illinois. The meeting was held to hear the contest of delegates that had been selected by the convention of the Progressive Democratic Party of South Carolina to be seated as delegates from South Carolina. The committee consisted of Oscar R. Ewing as Chairman, David Kelly (North Dakota), Tracy McCracken (Wyoming), Ida Kayser (Minnesota), Jenny M. O'Hearn (South Dakota), and Mary S. Kelliher (Iowa). Delegates of the Progressive Democratic Party of South Carolina were represented by founder John McCray. The delegation certified by the Democratic Party of South Carolina were represented by Senator Burnet R. Maybank.

The Ball Family Account and Blanket Book, 1720-1778, includes lists of purchases, expenses, blankets given out to enslaved persons, and names/ages of enslaved persons at Midway, Limerick, Comingtee and Kensington Plantations. The book includes a loose list of enslaved men with their place of birth and ages, ca. 1750, currently on exhibit at the South Carolina Historical Society Museum.
Copy of "An Additional Act for the Better Regulation of Indian Trade-Appointment of Commissioners of Indian Trade." This act was presented by James Moore at the Charlestown Council Chamber. The document refers to the success of this trade regulation based on the behavior of the "Indian traders" and "several nations of Indians in amity with the government." Makes notation about "restraining the abuses committed to the said traders among the said Indians..." appointing commissioners for "better regulation of the Indian trade" and the oaths these men must take. The Native Americans mentioned in the document are the "Northward Indians," or the Catawba. Makes notation that there is no direct or indirect trading with the Cherokees.
A land indenture of two Childsbury Town lots conveyed to Isaac Child by John Skinner for forty-six pounds. The two properties are located near Mulberry Street and Church Street. The second page of the indenture is a statement by Mary Skinner agreeing to the release of these properties to Isaac Child.

The Foaling Register, 1745-1777, is a bound register kept by Elias Ball II recording the selling and purchasing of horses, mules and mares and the births of colts at Kensington and Limerick Plantations.
A petition by Dorta James Brown to John Coming Ball in which she petitions to have Ball appear before the Court of Common Pleas for twelve pounds and twelve shillings that he refuses to pay. The petition states that the money is for medical attendance.
The Charles Pinckney Account Book, 1753, is an account book that includes rental rolls, listings of slaves, lists of titles, acreage allotments and deeds of real estate. Many of the slaves referenced in the account book are listed by first name, their slave family as well as their age.

The enslaved persons are referenced as "Monimias" daughter Sally, a girl called Senah, Marcus, a girl called Silvia, and a boy called Pino. Makes a statement that the enslaved man and driver Sambo is to be free upon the death of John Coming Ball, given money yearly and is allowed to live on any plantation under the ownership of the Ball family.

A copy of the last will and testament of Lydia Child Ball in which she states to "give and dispose of all such slaves & there respective issue," a bond of one thousand pounds to John and Nicholas Harleston, the enslaved man Ratcliffe and the enslaved women Amey to her daughter Catherine Simons, the enslaved man Sam to her son and a list of executors she appoints to carry out her will.
A land conveyance of one-sixth part of 840 acres from Elias Ball II and Lydia Simons Ball to their daughter Catherine Simons. This conveyance includes "all the houses, outhouses, woods, underwoods, timber and timber trees…" found within this portion of land.
The Surveyor's Notebook, 1767, is a bound volume kept by or for a member of the Ball family containing field notes, tables, conversions of liquid, cloth measures, and a description of rules of "three direct" and "three inverse."
The Account Book of Enslaved Persons Belonging to Henry and Rene Ravenel, 1771-1867 records the enslaved children born under the ownership of Henry or Rene Ravenel. The lists include the first name of the child, their parents, date of birth and occasionally includes notes of death or if purchased by another slave owner. This book contains a second use written upside down and back to front.

The Account Journal, 1774-1777, was written by an unknown author recording financial accounts, tasks performed by enslaved persons, the planting of indigo, cotton, rice and corn and numerous memorandums between Paul Villepontoux and Peter Marion. A few journal entries reference enslaved persons who ran away from the plantations as well as verses pertaining to freedom and General George Washington. Journal contains entries from a second use, which are written upside down and interspersed with the first use.

The Fairfield Plantation Book, 1775-1794, is a clothing and blanketing book containing the names of enslaved persons (1773), children born at the plantation (1775), a list of clothes, blankets and tools given out to enslaved persons (1773-1775), cattle and hog inventory, lists of births and deaths of enslaved persons (1792-1797), and lists of enslaved families at Fairfield and Wappoo Plantations (1773-1797). The book contains a second use written back to front and upside down.

The remainder of the will appoints Elias Ball and Robert Quash as executors.

The 2nd South Carolina Continental Regiment Order Book, 1777, is a bound volume written for the 2nd South Carolina Continental Regiment (commanded by Colonel Motte). The volume includes an alphabetical list of soldiers serving in the Regiment compiled from the order book by John Bennett (1915), military orders from numerous generals, information on soldiers accused and punished for crimes (such as lashes) for theft, drunkenness, violence, mutiny, and desertion. Also included are references to “divine services” or public worship for the soldiers, and requests for military clothing and other items. Locations mentioned include Fort Moultrie, Fort Johnson, Sullivan's Island, the Charleston Battery, and Haddrell's Point. Persons referenced include General Francis Marion, Henry Laurens, Lt. Col. Isaac Huger, Captain Richard Shubrick and General William Moultrie.
